J. Michael Hickox, J.D. – Attorney at Law
Attorney Michael Hickox specializes in Estate Planning, Elder Law and Medicaid Planning. In developing each plan, he takes a personalized, holistic approach that considers his clients’ goals, values and dreams as well as their hard-earned assets. Michael is a member of the State Bar of Michigan; the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys; Wealth Counsel; and is a past Chair of the Michigan Forum of Estate Planning Attorneys.
In addition to his law practice, Michael presents nationally and locally on a variety of estate planning related topics to other professionals including Certified Public Accountants, Certified Financial Planners and Property, Casualty and Life Agents for continuing education credits. As a speaker and workshop leader, Michael is dedicated to teaching individuals, couples and other professionals the truth about estate planning. To bolster his own knowledge, he attends five to eight educational seminars annually.
Beyond being a legal counselor, Michael is a trained Stephen Minister – a non-denominational counseling ministry dedicated to providing supportive and caring guidance to people in need. He further contributes to the community as an active member and past president of the Milford Rotary Club; the past president of the Huron Valley Education Foundation; as a Trustee of the Huron Valley Council of the Arts; and by serving on the Board of Directors of the Carls Family YMCA. Personally, Michael is married, has two daughters and is a grandfather and loves traveling and adventure.
Jodie M. Giles, J.D. – Attorney at Law
Attorney Jodie M. Giles joined the Huron Valley Law Center, PLC, Estate Planning & Elder Law in 2009. Prior to joining the firm, she was an associate attorney at Mall Malisow & Cooney, P.C. Jodie’s practice takes a holistic approach to estate planning and administration, eldercare legal planning, special needs planning, Veterans Administration Planning and planning for the non-traditional family. Jodie specializes in advising elder clients and their families how to maximize quality of life and quality of care by fully utilizing the resources available.
Jodie is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Elder Law and Disability Rights and Probate & Estate Sections of the State Bar of Michigan, and Wealth Counsel.
Jodie is a graduate of the University of Michigan-Dearborn, with a BA in psychology, and Wayne State University Law School. Prior to law school, Jodie worked as a research assistant in the Neuropsychology Division of the Department of Psychiatry at University of Michigan. As a research assistant, she conducted neuropsychological testing of an older adult population, including individuals with dementia. This experience fostered a special interest in the practice of eldercare legal planning and has helped her work with clients with physical and cognitive impairments.
Jodie is married with two young children. She enjoys travel, sports, mountain biking, and hiking.
Cinda L. Everhart – Estate Administration and Benefits Coordinator
A proponent of continual learning and education, Cinda holds a degree from the University of Detroit, has trained at the Institute for Continuing Legal Education and Wealth Counsel. She continues to pursue her education at Oakland Community College.
A dynamic individual outside of work, Cinda is active in her church; participates in a bell choir, the Huron Valley Council for the Arts and the Rotary Club; Administrative Assistant for her neighborhood Association, Board Member for the Huron Valley Gleaner Arbor, and enjoys playing the piano, gardening, beading and sewing. Born and raised in Highland, she has been married for over 24 years and has one adult child.
Linda Lazar – Funding Coordinator
Funding Coordinator, Linda Lazar joined the Huron Valley Law Center, PLC, Estate Planning & Elder Law in 2010. Linda’s career path has always been people-oriented and centered on guiding and assisting people to help them achieve their goals. As a bank loan officer for the last 18 years, Linda learned that every client is an individual who deserves special attention to help them achieve their particular objective. She is now applying her skills in helping others to her current position.
Linda attended Oakland Community College and completed her education at Lawrence Institute of Technology. Since then, she has completed many additional courses related to government regulations, fraud and compliance issues, including a special workshop on elder abuse. Married and a resident of Milford, Linda has lived and worked in the Huron Valley area for over 17 years and believes in giving back to the community she serves.
Linda is active in the Rotary Club of Milford and volunteers frequently at community events and fund raisers. In her spare time, Linda enjoys gourmet cooking and collecting cookbooks, collecting antiques and her houseful of pets.
Julie A. Frazzini – Office Administrator
Julie A. Frazzini joined Huron Valley Law Center, PLC, Estate Planning & Elder Law in 2009. Julie is a 2004 graduate of Walsh College of Accountancy and Business Administration. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Management. Since graduation Julie has worked in several industries including disability benefits, and non-profit fundraising.
Born and raised in Highland, Julie and her husband recently returned to the area to be closer to friends and family. In her off time she enjoys cooking, reading, and walking on the Milford Trail.
Kathleen L. Haller – Client Services Coordinator
Originally from Farmington Hills Michigan, Kathy attended Lawrence Institute of Technology where she received a degree in Business Administration Majoring in Human Resources and Business Systems. While attending college she held the position of President of A.S.P.A, the American Society of Personnel Administration. She worked as a Systems Analyst for the Insurance Industry for 10 years. Kathy and her husband Steve moved to the Highland area in 1987, with their three children. She worked in the Huron Valley School District prior to becoming a member of the Elder Law & Special Needs Planning Planning Team in 2010. Kathy volunteers for local organizations as she loves meeting and getting to know people. She enjoys most outdoor activities, preferring camping, traveling, and gardening.
